Hosted at Birmingham's NEC during IFSEC 2011, the Engineers of Tomorrow competition pits upcoming apprentice security installers against each other to test their skills of assessment and installation across the four days of the world's premier security exhibition.
Two of Crimehalt Fire and Security apprentices competed this year, showing their talents throughout the series of designated tasks under timed conditions. The tests consisted of both written and practical tasks, covering their knowledge of European Standards, assessment skills of previously installed alarm systems, fault identification, system re-commissioning and finally, their knowledge and practical skills when introducing the addition of security systems.
The tasks were then judged by representatives from the security inspectorates and the training organisation who then had the task of allocating points against the various disciplines.
