NASIC member CSS Security, based in Hampshire, Southampton were offered the opportunity to supply and install CCTV systems with digital recording facilities for B&Q's head office estate of six buildings in Hampshire.
B&Q required the CCTV to be connected over a wide area network so that as well as on site static guarding, all sites could be remotely monitored from a central site. The client required additional access control with smart card technology to control the movement of all staff. B&Q were looking for the best possible and newest technology and as a responsible employer wanted to ensure that all necessary security measures were to be put in place.
CSS with the help of B&Q's facilities department designed a hi tech system using CCTV high speed dome cameras for each site and connected them to linked network video recorders. External detection units were also fitted for automated control of the dome cameras.
The system which uses cards will also enable future applications such as cashless vending and time and attendance monitoring when required.
