Eaton Security launches
latest software update
with virtual control |
Intruder Alarms & Detection |
Alongside Eaton's recent amalgamation with long-established Cooper Safety, the company has announced it's first product update since the Christmas break. The new update comes in the form of a new software update for the Menvier and Scantronic i-on intruder control panels. |
|
|
|
It is quite evident that this update has been aimed to set new standards, functionality and flexibility to the existing range of
alarm solutions offered by Eaton & Cooper, reviving the product as to match what other manufacturers are currently developing in-house. |
What's New? |
The most notable of features that comes with this update is what they are calling their "Virtual Keypad". Working within a similar template as the popular 'cloud based' features that the likes of Risco are promoting, the virtual keypad allows users to access their alarm from anywhere in the world - via a web browser interface.
By using a range of common web browsers such as Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer, Google Chrome and many others, it is possible for homeowners or even installers to gain remote access to a control panel with ease. From here, they can set
alarms and manage their system through an on-screen version of their keypad at home. Of course, being in the technology-oriented world that we live in, Eaton have also ensured that this feature is also available from mobile devices, tablets and laptops to cover all possibilities. |
How does this benefit end users? |
Eaton announced this update to appeal to both installers and end-users, and it does just that. Homeowners can now benefit from the ability to add, update and delete users from the alarm system, set and unset control panel features and even reset mains fail faults all from the touch of a button, at home with the keypad or via a smartphone, tablet or computer.
Text message alerts have also been improved to work over PTSN and increase the reliability of this feature. The old SMS system proved to be unreliable at times so was recalled in the recent V4.04 update. |
And finally, |
Overall, the newly announced update is a hit. Eaton are planning to feed a substantial investment into it's software updates
over the course of the new year, with the plan to enhance the longevity of existing hardware and add features to products that, if not available, would otherwise necessitate purchasing a new alarm system. |
